wish you were here

Hello, friends! I do wish you were here today. It's been sunny, in the 80's, and the breezy tradewinds have made it picture perfect weather.

Speaking of pictures, Michele shared this card a few days ago on the Purple Onion Designs blog, using Liz Tamanaha's Instant Film Frame. Go here to see if you were a giveaway stamp winner and to see more cards from the POD design team.

All images were colored with Copics, and I sketched in a pair of cool shades for the little bird. The sentiment is from Michelle Clement's Beach Chair set.

I hope the weather is beautiful wherever you are. Have a fantastic weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by...

Scented Message

It doesn't happen often, but I love it when a card comes together just as I imagined it, right down to the embellishments. After I bought Scented Message, a new stamp from Penny Black, I knew that I wanted to pair it with Tim Holtz' vintage cabinet die.

I've seen Hero Arts' Shari Carroll use it several times and I just loved the unique shape for a card. Move over, Reverse Wonky Rectangle.

After coloring the image with Copics, I cut out some of the flowers and mounted them on dimensional adhesive. I love how they pop off the card. And I had the perfect shade of ribbon scrap that was dyed with distress inks.

I'm planning to enter this card in Lily Pad's latest challenge with flowers. Go here to see all the details.

I hope you all have a great week. Thanks for visiting today!

Picture this!

Hello, friends! I'd like to share another newly released stamp from Paislee Press--this cute take on a Polaroid. The Instant Film Frame is now on sale here in the Purple Onion Designs store.

Here's the frame used on one of Becky Higgins' journal cards. There are so many ways to fill in the frame--a photo, some journaling, or even a sketch.

Stamps used: Instant Film Frame, Vintage Postmark Date Set

I also used the frame on a mini card, and paired it with Stephanie Ackerman's birdies.

Stamps used: Instant Film Frame, Home Sweet Home,The Bird Cage, The Bird House,
A Little Bird Told Me, Damask Background

This frame has quickly become one of my favorites and shows the versatility of how a stamp can be used in both journaling and cardmaking.

And as promised, Michele is having another giveaway here on her blog. Stop by to see the other new stamps and leave a comment on which Paislee Press stamp is your fave.

You have until Saturday, March 24th at 11:59pm EST to comment, and Michele will choose a random commenter to win the stamp they chose!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Back home with a giveaway winner!

Hello, hello! I'm back from our five night vacation in Las Vegas, and the highlight was meeting my pal Kelly Booth and spending the entire day with her. We played (very conservatively) some slot machines, had a nice lunch, and basically "chilled out".

Here's a photo from March 2010 when we first met:

And here's a recent shot, almost 2 years to the day:

Between the two of us, we lost nearly 90 pounds! Yay for us! Doesn't Kelly look great as a blonde?

And I can finally announce the winner of the Reverse Wonky Rectangle dies. Thank you for being so patient! There were numerous flight delays and our luggage didn't arrive home with us. I felt so lost without my things, but the bags were finally delivered yesterday afternoon.

So the winner of the dies, according to random.org is cassie.

Congrats, cassie! I hope you have as much fun as I do with the Wonky dies.

I'd also like to send out some goodies (patterned paper packs and stamps) to the following people, chosen randomly by random.org:

     16. Mimi
     52. Kate D
     35. Dawn
     50. Dori
     40. Emilie

Please email me so I can get your mailing addresses.

Thanks to all of you who entered the giveaway and for your sweet comments, too. I'll have more giveaways soon, as well as some new and exciting designs from Purple Onion Designs. Stay tuned!
